Industrial Forum: Hurdles, Challenges, and Opportunities of IoT Moving Towards 6G

The focus of the IEEE 7th World Forum on Internet of Things (IoT), with a focus on industry forums, this year will be on presenting recent results from several EU research projects and how they can be used in the future. The event will take place both virtually and in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, from June 14 to July 31. It aims to continue an open discussion on how to remove existing barriers that have so far hindered effective deployment of innovative IoT systems.

Via different talks, demos, and a discussion panel, the 6G IoT industrial forum shall highlight different aspects of some main hurdles in IoT deployments and workarounds to overcome or mitigate them. The addressed audience is the whole IoT community, from academia to Industry, as topics are system-wide and have an impact on most of the IoT-related scenarios of the forthcoming years, paving the way towards the 6G system.

fortiss scientist and IIoT area of expertise leader Dr. Rute C. Sofia, IIoT is one of the organizers of the industry forum, and shall provide a demonstration of the Industrial IoT „TSMatch“ concept, which concerns an open-source data matching engine between IoT data sources and services. The presentation of the concept will be given by Nisrine Bnouhanna, who is part of Dr. Sofia's team. The panel discussion shall be supported by Dr. Rute Sofia,  who will bring the fortiss perspective on devising  effective next steps towards the integration of IoT on forthcoming 6G systems.
