Advancing digital competence for SMEs in a focused way

Digitization offers small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) far-reaching potential to achieve competitive advantages, save costs and increase efficiency. However, the path to achieving this also presents SMEs with particular challenges at the same time. There is often a lack of expertise and corresponding support for the targeted implementation of digital transformation in the operational environment.

In order to competently accompany Bavarian companies on this path, fortiss and the Lars and Christian Engel Foundation LUCE in Weiherhammer (Upper Palatinate), organize compact workshops on the topic of software engineering. Both cooperation partners are thus setting themselves the goal of further promoting digitization in the region and the associated competence development in SMEs.

The courses Data-driven Process Engineering and Software Excellence underline the cooperation offer in the coming months on various dates. The knowledge acquired there can be integrated immediately in the operational everyday life. The training courses are booked and organized by the ÜBZO (Überbetriebliches Bildungszentrum in Ostbayern). Course participants also have the opportunity to obtain a certificate for their participation.

Workshop Data-driven Process Engineering

The course systematically introduces medium-sized companies from the manufacturing sector to data-driven process engineering. In an era of cross-enterprise software systems and platform-based information architectures, it is particularly necessary to put the processes and the company's value creation model back at the center of attention.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deep Learning methods should be viewed as a tool, not a basic requirement. This course teaches companies the methods of process engineering and process analysis to meet the challenges of digital transformation. Two terminal alternatives are available for this course.

Workshop Software Excellence

In this workshop, current developments and best practices in the field of software engineering will be presented. Software expert Dr. Johannes Kroß will show the effects that organizational processes/procedures and corporate culture can have on software development. Participants learn how simple methods can make software activities more manageable in order to reduce maintenance costs and increase software quality in the medium term.

The course content demonstrates how targeted techniques can be used to strengthen knowledge transfer and communication as well as transparency within the company. Furthermore, participants will learn more about current technology trends. To this end, possibilities are discussed together as to how these can be selected and used as sustainably as possible for one's own company, both for internal development processes and for the software-supported product. Two different dates are also available for this course.
