Robotics

The Robotics research division is involved in improving the usability, flexibility and integration of robotics systems used in production systems, so that they can be adapted to changing requirements without expert knowledge.

Robots are designed to independently resolve abstract issues in various domains. We integrate artificial intelligence methods (AI) and develop new operations concepts for cooperation between humans and robots. Our goal is to derive solutions from product and process descriptions, which can then be flexibly ported over to different systems.

Our activities focus on the following areas:

  • Automatic programming
  • End-to-end digital engineering
  • Software and systems engineering
  • Semantic description languages
  • Natural and intuitive interaction

We rely on semantic descriptions of product- and process-relevant requirements, in addition to descrip-tions of hardware and software component capabilities. Complex, system-wide queries can be answered by linking all areas of the value chain and accessing existing knowledge. Using semantic action descriptions, flexible cooperation and task distribution be-tween humans and robots can be enabled.
