Help is on the way thanks to the “Sustainable Buying Assistant” that is under development with the help of artificial intelligence (AI). fortiss as part of this project, fortiss is working on a web-based personal buying app, which shows the sustainability of a product using an index that provides important consumer information about the origin of foods and how they are cultivated and manufactured.

Customer-individual mass production, for example, requires a high degree of autonomy from production systems in order to meet the increasing complexity of cyberphysical systems and the growing efficiency pressures in a cost-effective way. With this in mind, the new field of competence Knowledge-based Systems Engineering (KBSE) is conducting research into a knowledge-based engineering concept that provides solutions for these requirements.

08/02/2021 | Dr. Harald Rueß, Scientific Managing Director at fortiss, was honored by the international scientific community with the CAV award in Los Angeles. In the wake of the “Satisfiability Revolution”, together with his colleagues at the Stanford Research Institute Dr. Rueß developed important contributions to the theory and practice of algorithms for solving practical underclasses of Hilbert’s decision problem from 1928.

With its “National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence”, the German government wants to secure and expand Germany’s leading position in the field of AI. The associated funding program KI4KMU – research, development and utilization of AI methods in small-to-medium enterprises – specifically targets this sector.
