In the future the fortiss labs will serve as a link between science and industry with the aim of enabling highly-innovative technology development and sharing experiences. The focus is on close collaboration with application partners in order to conduct research into new methods for the development of software-intensive systems and to promote their rapid implementation into practical applications.
From idea to prototype
The five independent labs, which focus on the topics of mobility, robotics, energy, IIoT and neuromorphic computing, offer an excellent framework for research collaboration for adapting the latest scientific findings to the needs of the market, as well as developing, verifying and testing prototypes and quickly implementing them via knowledge and technology transfer.
The new spaces and application demonstrators contain a domain-specific environment for exploration, demonstration and training. These conditions guarantee the absolute best basis for interdisciplinary work with organizations, universities and industry. The fortiss labs are immediately available as an open space for companies, associations, students and an interested public.
Solving the challenges of digitalization together
As part of numerous joint research activities with industry, fortiss scientists are confronted with new issues related to the digital transformation on a daily basis. These issues are perceived as a clear mission to conduct research with the aim of demonstrating the digitalization potential for the industry and economy in Bavaria. The fortiss labs offer an outstanding environment to carry out these activities and are particularly appealing to Bavarian small and medium-sized businesses. Against this backdrop, Dr. Harald Rueß, Scientific Managing Director at fortiss, opened the event, making it very clear how indispensable data-driven software is today.
Dr. Markus Duchon, head of the fortiss Labs, then provided a more detailed presentation of the labs and the services they offer. This was followed by vivid presentations of individual demonstrators that gave the fortiss employees the opportunity to share and discuss concrete ideas and answer questions related to collaboration possibilities.
Apart from numerous representatives from business, industry and small-to-medium Bavarian enterprises, BayernLabs was also present with a demonstrator as an additional fortiss cooperation partner. BayernLabs, which is accessible to a broad public in Bavaria, invites interested citizens to experience and try out new technologies.
