Shaping international standards for the regulation of advanced ICT technology: An Introduction to INSTAR and its Global Impact

We are thrilled to invite you to the first webinar of INSTAR, aiming to offer a comprehensive understanding of the INSTAR project and its objectives, as well as its role in shaping international ICT standardisation by working together with like-minded countries.

INSTAR is an EU-funded project that aims to support the implementation of Europe’s Digital Partnerships and the EU-US TTC by working together with Australia, Canada, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and the USA to drive international common standards for AI, Cybersecurity, DigitalID, Quantum, IoT, 5G, 6G and data technologies. 

Following a comprehensive introduction by the project coordinator, fireside chats will give you a deeper understanding of the INSTAR Task Forces, dedicated groups of standardisation experts that concentrate on specific technology areas, aiming to cultivate a European common vision, aligning project activities and monitoring the implementation of standards on a macro level.

This session will introduce the concept and purpose of EU's international collaboration on ICT standardisation, contextualising the EU Digital Partnerships and exploring how INSTAR will contribute to achieving their objectives.
10:20-10:35Discussion 1: INSTAR Task Forces (TFs) and Joint Committees (JCs): how to get involved and contribute to INSTAR activities?

This session will offer an introduction to the INSTAR workstreams and TFs, outlining what they are, what is their purpose, the expected level of effort required by the TF members, who can join them and how to join them. 
The audience will learn why they should contribute to the INSTAR activities, what the different INSTAR stakeholder types will gain from contributing and what kind of contributions/insights will be asked of the INSTAR community.
10:35-10:50 Discussion 2: International ICT standardisation - what does success look like?

This session will offer a clear understanding of the expected outcomes of the INSTAR support to the implementation of the EU Digital Partnerships and the Trade and Technology Council (TTC) activities, by providing success stories focusing on international standardisation through cooperation between EU and its partner countries.
