Software-Defined Vehicle - What does this mean for vehicle development in Germany?

The development of automotive software in Germany faces profound challenges—yet equally promising opportunities. In an increasingly competitive international landscape, established and often slow-to-adapt industry structures collide with a high level of regulation and diverging political visions for the future of the European automotive market. At the same time, the strategic shift of China and the USA away from the principles of a free global market is reshaping the playing field—altering the conditions for German industry players as well.

Against this backdrop, a key question arises:
How can a future-oriented vision emerge that positions automotive software "Made in Germany" at the forefront of global innovation?

At the heart of this transformation lie data- and user-driven approaches capable of anticipating tomorrow’s customer needs today. Only through such a consistently digital focus can Germany’s automotive sector remain competitive on a global scale.

Key topics of discussion include:

  • Adapting and opening traditional industry structures
  • Addressing regulatory challenges
  • Developing a vision for Germany’s leadership in automotive software
  • Strategies for fully data-driven vehicle development

The key to all of this lies in a strong commitment to a new, software-centered vehicle architecture: the Software-Defined Vehicle. But how can Germany pursue this mission with determination? And what concrete steps are needed to turn this technological and cultural transformation into reality?

TASTE the Future Berlin” is the final event of the TASTE initiative, at which experts from the automotive industry, research and politics will discuss the future of automotive software. The focus will be on topics such as software-defined vehicles and data-driven development strategies. As a member of this important initiative, fortiss will also be actively involved in the discussions.
