Prof. Dr. Chunyang Chen earned his bachelor's degree from the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China, and completed his PhD in 2014 and 2018 at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. from 2018 to 2024, he served as a lecturer and later as a tenured senior lecturer at Monash University, Australia. In 2024, he was appointed to the professorship of software Engineering & artificial intelligence at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).

Prof. Chen’s research sits at the intersection of software engineering, human-computer interaction, software security, and artificial intelligence. he applies data-driven approaches, including AI/ML, NLP, and lightweight program analysis techniques, to advance the field. His work focuses on AI/LLM-assisted automated software development—including GUI design, code generation, and automated testing—the deployment of AI in software systems, and the security of deep learning models and mobile applications.

Since July 2025, Prof. Chen has been a Research Fellow at fortiss, where he primarily supports the competence areas of Software Engineering, Machine Learning, and Human-Centered Engineering through individual research projects.
