Model-based systems engineering: Mastering complex architectures
In many industries, software is the primary driver of innovation. However, for safety-critical systems that interact with their environment in real time, the complexity of their architectures has reached a level that is virtually impossible to manage using traditional methods. These architectures play a decisive role in determining the success or failure of system characteristics such as functional safety, weight, and performance. Anyone who loses track of the dependencies between requirements, functions, and hardware risks skyrocketing costs and massive project delays.
The key to managing this complexity lies in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). By abstracting into models and applying the proven SPES (Software Platform Embedded Systems) methodology, you shift design and validation activities to early development phases. This reduces costs and prevents project delays. Learn how computer-aided analysis and simulation eliminate sources of manual error and enable efficient architecture exploration. As part of the course, selected methods and concepts will be presented interactively using concrete case studies at the fortiss Mobility Lab.
-
- Methodological complexity management: you will understand the fundamentals of MBSE for cyber-physical systems and learn how models serve as a “single source of truth” to ensure consistency throughout the entire development cycle.
- Efficiency through automation: you will learn how to automate design tasks and verification steps using models—from quality management to the automatic deployment of software on hardware.
- Practical knowledge transfer: using a comprehensive open-source example (autonomous driving assistance systems), you will directly apply what you have learned and benefit from the latest insights into architecture exploration, quality and consistency management, and variability.
- Strategic potential analysis: you will be equipped to identify the specific potential of MBSE within your own company to accelerate development processes and enhance system safety.
