The yearbook showcases selected EU research projects that are driving the advancement of digital technologies. CODECO is highlighted for its contribution to the development of an open platform for sustainable and intelligent edge and cloud management, particularly for its progress toward integrated management of the edge-cloud continuum. CODECO's goal is to develop cognitive orchestration solutions for the IoT edge-cloud continuum and to transfer them into standardization.

fortiss, with its expertise in the Industrial Internet of Things, is responsible for coordinating and scientifically managing key research activities in the CODECO project. The focus is on developing and integrating cognitive orchestration solutions for the edge-cloud continuum, including automated decision-making, dynamic workload migration, and adaptive resource allocation. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Rute Sofia, these results will be tested and further developed in specific use cases, such as smart cities, Industry 4.0 scenarios, and energy and building technology.

“The CODECO project strengthens European industry by providing an open, energy-efficient orchestration solution for edge and cloud applications. It promotes digital sovereignty, reduces operating costs, and supports sustainable IT strategies. Small and medium-sized enterprises in particular benefit from its easy integration. At the same time, CODECO actively drives innovation and standardization in Europe,” explains Prof. Dr. Rute C. Sofia.

The brochure with all the success stories is available on the NKS DIT publication portal and presents selected EU projects that illustrate the added value of collaborative research for Europe's digital transformation.
