Starting in September 2026, edih dina – Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence will launch as a new European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) to support companies in Bavaria in the practical implementation of digital innovations. With EU funding of just under three million euros and a total budget of around six million euros, edih dina offers nearly 100 free services—ranging from artificial intelligence and IT security to digital production, deep-tech applications, grant opportunities, and financing. The offerings include technology-related consulting, testing facilities, training programs, and support for the development and implementation of digital innovation projects.

Many companies are confronted with the question of which digital technologies are best suited to their individual challenges and how to prepare for investments in a meaningful way. edih dina supports SMEs, startups, mid-cap companies, and public institutions throughout the entire innovation process—from analyzing digital maturity to technology consulting and workshops, all the way to the development and testing of prototypes. Through access to research expertise, infrastructure, and innovation networks, digital solutions can be tested under real-world conditions, and investment decisions can be made on a sound basis.

As part of this three-year project, fortiss is developing practical solutions for companies and public institutions in Bavaria. Manuela Lambacher coordinates fortiss’s activities within edih dina and serves as the point of contact for accessing fortiss’s services at the hub: “We want to show Bavarian companies concrete ways to use digital technologies to their advantage. With a wide range of offerings—such as potential analyses, prototype development, our Software Engineering Toolbox, and access to the fortiss Labs—we support them in developing innovative ideas all the way through to practical implementation,” said the technology transfer manager.

A Strong Network for the Digital Future

Behind edih dina is a Bavarian consortium of more than ten partner organizations that successfully achieved recognition as a European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH). As a result, edih dina is part of the European EDIH network, which comprises more than 250 hubs across Europe.

The consortium includes Bayern Innovativ, the appliedAI Institute, the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR), the BAIOSPHERE AGENCY / Bavarian AI Agency, the Digital Center Swabia (DZ.S), fortiss, the Fraunhofer Institutes IGCV and IIS, TechBase Regensburg, Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, and the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg (OTH Regensburg), among others.

Bayern Innovativ serves as the consortium coordinator and is responsible for project communication.
