Project description
The "Sustainable Shopping Assistant for Healthier and More Sustainable Food Consumption" pursues is a research project from the field of artificial intelligence (AI) that aims to promote healthier and more sustainable food consumption. The project has the goal to support consumers in complex food purchasing decisions. The underlying decision-making processes will be facilitated with knowledge-based AI elements, the sustainable selection of products and offers a better orientation in the shopping environment. The project promotes the creation of transparency in the food chain by using a "Sustainable Shopping Assistant" to show consumers important information about the origin, cultivation and production of food.
Research contribution
The project will develop a digital prototype based on AI. The application accesses blockchain data from IBM Food Trust as well as other data sources selected and created as part of the research project. The product information will be verifiable and trustworthy based on linked data in a decentralized cloud and made accessible via a virtual assistant (chatbot). By means of user tests, the prototype will be optimized via continuous adaptation and implementation of the results. This iterative approach supports a flexible integration of currently obtained results from the individual development steps.
